OUR PROGRAM
Trinity Lutheran School offers a Christ-centered education that focuses on the individual needs of the child. The children are taught to accept, ove, and respect one another.
Pre-Kindergarten children are provided with experiences that promote natural development in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. There are many hands on opportunities that allow children to become independent and build self-esteem. Keep in mind that each child will develop and grow at a different rate that God has made unique.
This class focuses on social skills as well as providing activities that will strengthen and prepare your child for Kindergarten. We will learn upper and lower case letters, counting, cutting, early math and reading skills, name recognition, printing, phone number and address and work on individual skills.
Our class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM. All children must be 4 years old by August 1st and fully potty trained.
RELIGION
We use CPH (Concordia Publishing House) Voyages and devotions for Religion. Children are encouraged to listen to stories from the Bible, take part during group prayer, learn simple Bible songs and Bible verses. They come to know Jesus as their friend who died and rose for them. The children are taught to show God's love to others throughout the day.
ART
The focus of art is on the process rather than the product. Pre-K children will have many opportunities to work with crayons, markers, paint, paper, scissors, glue, etc. Some projects will done as a group and others will be offered as a free choice during centers. Art offers many opportunities to work on fine motor skills.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Students will be introduced to printing their name, alphabet and numbers. We will send home a Letter Bog to help with letter sound recognition. We do work with the children individually and introduce word cards and easy readers as they improve their skills. They are encouraged to express themselves through words and sensory activities. These learning opportunities may also be provided during group and center time.
MATH
Math concepts may be taught during daily activities such as circle time, centers, snack, or small group time. Children will participate in hands-on activities that involve counting, number recognition, shape recognition, sorting, and sequencing.
SCIENCE
Pre-K children will use their senses to learn about the world God created. Through observation and experiments, we will learn about our bodies, nature, weather, animals, seasons, and magnets.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Our classroom environment encourages each child to have healthy social skills and positive self-esteem. Children will learn about their differences, develop friendships and be more aware of the world around them.
MUSIC
Children are given various opportunities to listen, play, sign and move to music. Pre-K students will also participate in the Christmas Program and the NLSW (National Lutheran Schools Week) Sunday program.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Children will daily take part in activities to stimulate large motor skills. These activities may take place in the gym, on the playground or in the classroom. Students participate in both structured and non-structured play with scooters, balls, parachutes and other equipment.
